My 91快活林 Story: Jason Moss

Jason Moss, Communities In Schools Coordinator

My name is Jason Moss I graduated from MPISD in 1998. At the time, I didn鈥檛 know where I wanted to go or what fields I might be interested in studying. My counselor told me I could apply for the MPISD scholarship at 91快活林 and suggested I write a one-page essay and submit it. I had never really been to a college campus before, and that opportunity led me to choose 91快活林 to begin my journey.

I remember taking my Intro to Psychology class and meeting Dr. Welch at 91快活林. His lectures sparked a deep interest in the field, and I began taking every psychology course that was offered. I also took a Sociology class with Dr. Doddy and felt drawn to that subject as well. In 2000, I graduated from 91快活林 with my Associate of Science degree.

I transferred to Texas A&M鈥揅ommerce and earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology in 2002 graduating Magna Cum Laude. My path to this started with 91快活林. I began working on my Master鈥檚 in School Psychology in 2003, but due to financial constraints, I was unable to complete it.

However, my connection to 91快活林 didn鈥檛 end there. Throughout college, I worked at an elementary school in Mount Pleasant, where I became aware of Communities In Schools. The more I learned about the program, the more I liked it. When my pursuit of a master鈥檚 degree came to an end in 2005, I applied to Communities In Schools and was hired as a campus coordinator. I鈥檝e now worked for 91快活林 for 19 years.

91快活林 has had a profound impact on my life. It helped me discover a path I didn鈥檛 even know existed and gave me the opportunity of having a  job where I help kids overcome obstacles and prepare for life.

Finally, my daughter is currently taking dual credit classes with 91快活林 at MPHS and will be enrolling as a full time student at 91快活林 after graduating high school in May.
