Alpha Mu Chi, 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, recently received its sixth Honors in Action grant from the Mellon Foundation. The chapter will use the funds to explore and expand upon the various ways in which community colleges preserve stories. Part of that project includes filming and compiling β40 storiesβ related to the college as it celebrates its fortieth anniversary.
Susan Edwards, Phi Theta Kappaβs Senior Director of Honors Programs, commended 91Ώμ»ξΑΦβs Phi Theta Kappa chapter for submitting βa robustβ project and praised it for its efforts in serving the college and the community.
Dr. Melissa Fulgham, lead advisor for 91Ώμ»ξΑΦβs Phi Theta Kappa chapter, expressed delight at the news. βThese funds will help chapter members gather stories unique to the college and compile them in engaging ways to ultimately share with the college and the community.β
Chapter officers LaDarrius Patterson, in conjunction with the Theatre Club, and Andrew Higgins are spearheading the effort. Chapter advisors Dr. Melissa Fulgham, Dr. Maryna Svirska-Otero, and Professor Athena Hayes are helping coordinate the project, which will involve several chapter members. If you know of a unique story that should be included in the project, please reach out to one of these individuals.
