91����� (91�����) is now accepting registrations for its annual Kids Discovery College, set to take place July 7-17. This engaging summer program offers children an opportunity to explore, create, and learn through a variety of hands-on classes.

Country music legend Lee Greenwood will perform at the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91����� on Tuesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m. The concert is nearly sold out, so get your tickets at whatleycenter.com before it is too late!

The Eagles Softball Program at 91����� is proud to announce that five out of six sophomores from the softball program will continue their education and athletic careers at the next level — marking the largest recruiting class to move on from the program.

Fincannon’s Grand Slam Sparks Upset as 91����� Eagle Softball Stuns Apaches

91����� Eagle Softball pulled off a big-time upset on Saturday, taking down the heavily favored Tyler Junior College Apaches, 9-1, behind a dominant performance from Kiersten Fincannon. Fincannon delivered at the plate and in the circle, driving in four runs—including a momentum-shifting grand slam in the fifth—and shutting down the Apaches’ offense over five innings.

Dr. Chris T. McAllister, Biology, and three 91����� Biology 2389 students, Gracie Gray, Isabel Tresidder, and Stephanie Hernandez traveled to Black Rock, Arkansas, March 14-18, 2025, and conducted research on big river fish parasites from the Black River.  They discovered what will eventually be described as new species of myxosporeans from several fishes and were also mentored by a renown (retired) parasitologist, Dr. Donald Cloutman, from Kansas.  These students will get their first scientific publications from this event and will be very helpful in furthering their career goals.

The 91����� Foundation recently received a donation of $10,000 from Texas Heritage National Bank (THNB). The funds will be used to endow the Sid Greer Memorial Honors Scholarship at 91�����. Pictured, John Bryan (left) presents the check to Dr. Jon McCullough, 91����� Executive Vice President for Advancement, on behalf of THNB. Greer, who passed away in December 2024, served on the 91����� Board of Trustees faithfully for 23 years. During that time he served as Board Secretary for 12 years.

Dr. Dominique Spigner’s journey into social work was unexpected—it found her. During a difficult day at 91����� (91�����), she noticed a sign asking, “Do you like helping people?” Each question resonated with her, leading her to enroll in 91�����’s social work program. That moment changed her life forever.

For the ninth time since the awards began in 2015, an 91����� scholar has won a $100 Britt Award of the Great Plains Honors Council.  Stephanie Hernandez, a first-year Presidential Scholar from Mount Pleasant, bested all other competitors in the humanities poster division for freshmen and sophomores at the meeting of the Great Plains Honors Council (GPHC).  The awards were announced at the closing banquet of the 7-9 March meeting in Denton, Texas.
