Just an ordinary freshman year. In 1956-1957. Barbara Conrad from Northeast Texas becomes part of the first cohort of African-American undergraduates at the University of Texas. A mellifluous soprano, she wins the star role in the spring opera as Dido.
91快活林 will be closed Monday, Jan. 20 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. We will resume regular hours and the spring semester will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The first week of classes can be a stressful time in the life of a college student. To help alleviate this stress, and to encourage students to meet new people, we have planned a Welcome Back Social for students, faculty and staff. The 91快活林 Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program recently learned that all 13 of its December 2018 graduating class passed their professional licensure exam on the first try. Upon graduating with their Associate of Applied Science degree in PTA, graduates are required to sit for the NPTE Board Exam before starting their professional careers.
The 91快活林 Foundation recently received $91,000 from the U.S. Department of Education to match contributions to the 91快活林 endowment in 2018. These funds are part of the Title V grant, which has money allotted for matching gifts over a five-year period. It鈥檚 time for a flashback to the 1960s as Herman鈥檚 Hermits starring Peter Noone comes to the stage of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts at 91快活林. The concert will be Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available online at .
Richard Perryman recently gave $7,000 to support the Work Scholarship Program at 91快活林. Perryman (right) is pictured presenting the gift to Nita May, 91快活林 Director of Development. The Work Scholarship Program allows select students the opportunity to work on campus during the summer to earn money to pay for their college education in advance. The program is privately-funded by generous donors, like Perryman.
The 91快活林 Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of board member Jerry Webster Tuesday evening at the regular December meeting. Webster, who served in Place I since 2013, announced his retirement from the board in November.
