Lowe's employees lend a hand at 91快活林

Team members from Lowe?s store 1802 in Mount Pleasant stopped by the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts on the 91快活林 campus this week to lend a hand with painting classrooms. Supplies for the renovation came from Lowe?s and the store donated community service time to help complete the project in time for the fall semester. Carol Hodges supports 91快活林 Work Scholarship Program

Carol Hodges, owner of The Design Factory in Hughes Springs, recently gave a $500 gift to the 91快活林 Work Scholarship Program in memory of her late husband Bruce Hodges.

The Work Scholarship Program wrapped up its third summer this week, with around 40 students participating. The program gives hard-working students the opportunity to earn money to pay for their education at 91快活林.

TRMC Auxiliary gives six 91快活林 scholarships

The Titus Regional Medical Center (TRMC) Auxiliary recently presented the 91快活林 Foundation with $4,500, which will provide six $750 scholarships to benefit students at 91快活林 majoring in a health sciences field. Texas Heritage National Bank gives 91快活林 Presidential Scholarship

Texas Heritage National Bank recently presented a Presidential Scholarship to Emmalea Shaw, a sophomore at 91快活林.鈥燭he gift will cover Shaw?s academic expenses at 91快活林 for the 2016-2017 academic year.鈥燭his is the first privately-funded鈥爂ift of its kind鈥爐hat Honors Northeast has received.

Shaw had a stellar first year at 91快活林. She won a third-place $150 Caldwell Award from the State of Texas, and a $200 poetry award.

91快活林 holds Last Chance Registration next week

91快活林 will hold Last Chance Registration event August 15-19 in the Student Union Building (SUB). Faculty and staff will be on hand to help students take care of last-minute business before classes begin August 22. Registration will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to noon Friday.

91快活林 Business Technology Building to be named after Bart Scharlach

The board of the Bart Scharlach Memorial Foundation (BSMF) recently voted to move the management of the fund?s assets to the 91快活林 Foundation. In doing so, the gift reached the established level to rename both the Business Technology (BT) Building and the Whatley Center Auditorium on the 91快活林 campus.

The BT Building is now named the Bart Scharlach Business Technology Building, and the Whatley Center Auditorium is the Scharlach Auditorium.

August 4 construction update

? There is currently no interior pathway to walk from the east side of campus to the west side. There is access to the Testing Center (BT) and Student Success (SUB) from the exterior parking lots behind BT and the SUB. There is also access to the BT building through the IT building.

? Plans are in place to reopen the front entrance of the Student Services/Administration Building early next week.

Power outage planned for Aug. 5, registration moved to Whatley Center

鈥 鈥 鈥 91快活林 will have a construction-related power outage on most of its campus this Friday, Aug. 5. Student Services and the business office will remain open, but will be working out of the foyer of the Whatley Center for the Performing Arts from 8 a.m. to noon.
